On October 22, 2022, in Matosinhos, Portugal, the award ceremony and the opening of the exhibition with 25 final works of the IV Biennale of Photography Competition organized by the “Matosinhos Association from the Past to the Future” (AMPF) with the support of the Municipality of Matosinhos took place.
A total of 147 photographers from almost all regions of Portugal, including Brazil, France, Mexico, Bangladesh, Colombia, Cuba, India, Myanmar, and other countries submitted 525 photos to the “Women and Society” themed competition this year.
The event held at the Matosinhos Constantino Nery Municipal Theater was opened by the representative of AMPF and the first person in charge of the competition – Fernando Igrejas. Then the president of AMPF – Jorge Gonzalez and the Councilor for Cultural Affairs of the Municipality – Fernando Rocha had speeches.
After the speeches, 20 finalist works were shown first on the stage and their authors were presented with the Honorable Mention. For the rest 5 works were given the Youth Award, the Matosinhos Award, and finally the awards for the first 3 places. According to the results, the work of Nurlan Tahirli from Azerbaijan was chosen for the 2nd place. The photographer, who was presented as a special guest, was invited to the stage and his awards were presented. Speaking at the event, Nurlan Tahirli told the Matosinhos Association about the importance of the role of women in society and thanked the Association for the attention given to them through this chosen topic, as well as for this well-organized event.
The 3rd and 1st place awards were given respectively to Carlos Teixeira and Jose Pedro Martins from Portugal. After the event, the exhibition was officially declared open, commemorative photos were taken.
The exhibition will be open at the Constantino Nery theater until November 27, 2022.
