From 10 to 12 May the Grand Slam tournament (Baku Grand Slam 2019) was held in the Heydar Aliyev Sports Complex.

The tournament dedicated to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev and being one of the stages of the IJF World Judo Tour elite series.

The competition was attended by 449 athletes from 57 countries.

Azerbaijani judoists on the first day of competition pleased their fans with the results: Nijat Shikhalizada (66 kg) won a silver medal.

On the second day of the tournament, our athletes continued their successful performance: Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) won the gold medal.

Rustam Orujov and Telman Valiyev in the same weight category won bronze.

On the last day of the commitments:Mammadali Mehdiyev (90 kg) won a silver

Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) and Iryna Kindzerska (+78 kg) won bronze.
