The first international competition since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, was held in Baku from 7 to 9 May. The competitions, according to tradition, were held within the walls of the National Gymnastics Arena, but this time without the presence of spectators.

Athletes from Russia, USA, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Spain, Turkey, Israel and other countries arrived in Baku.

A total of 169 gymnasts from 35 countries took part in the competition, 63 of them performed in the individual competition and 106 in the group exercises.

On the day of the finals, May 9, in the group exercises with five balls, the Azerbaijani team won a bronze medal.

An interesting idea in the spirit of the times was the ceremony of awarding the winners in a contactless way – using drones.
