The pilot of the Red Bull Racing team, Sergio Perez, became the winner of the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan at the Baku city ring – the fourth stage of the Formula 1 world championship.

His teammate Max Verstappen took second place, and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc took third place.

Sergio Perez has already won the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan Formula 1 in 2021.

Azerbaijan is hosting the Formula 1 competition for the seventh time. The first competition under the title Grand Prix of Europe was organized in 2016. The first in this race was the driver of Mercedes team Nico Rosberg. The winners of the competition, which was later called the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan, were Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull Racing, 2017), Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, 2018), Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes, 2019), Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing, 2021), Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing, 2022). In 2020, the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Different pilots won the Azerbaijani stage of the world championship every year. The unpredictability of the result of the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan makes it even more spectacular. Formula 1 experts called it “Baku syndrome”.
