On June 12, the eighth main competition of the Formula 1 World Championship Azerbaijan Grand Prix started at the Baku City Ring.
At the race, which lasted about 2 hours, the Dutch driver from the Red Bull Racing team Max Verstappen, ahead of all his rivals (1:34:05.941), became the winner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan. The second place was taken by his Mexican teammate Sergio Perez (+20.823s). British Mercedes drivers George Russell (+45.995s) finished third and Lewis Hamilton (+71.679s) fourth.
After the completion of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan, the award ceremony was held.
The national anthems of the Netherlands and Austria were played in honor of the Grand Prix winner – the Red Bull Racing team and the Dutch driver Max Verstappen.
Formula 1 Cups of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix are timed to coincide with the 270th anniversary of the city of Shusha.
Every year, different pilots win at the Azerbaijani stage of the World Championship. At the current Grand Prix competition, Max Verstappen won his first victory in Baku. The unpredictability of the results of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix makes the competition even more grandiose. Formula 1 specialists called it the “Baku Syndrome”.
