DokuBaku festival is the first international documentary film festival to be held in Azerbaijan on 12-20 of October. The theme of this year’s festival is “Testing the Reality”

The festival consists of main and competition programs. In the framework of the main program, the audience will be presented with 17 documentaries, master- classes with directors and producers of the films, workshops and concerts. The program of DokuBaku International Documentary Film Festival will be revealed in the end of September.

DokuBaku has already screened eight films in frames of its pre-festival screenings. In frames of pre-festival screenings DokuBaku would like to present “I Didn’t Cross The Border: The Border Crossed Me” documentary to the students of Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

“I didn’t cross the border, the border crossed me” is a documentary by a Georgian filmmaker Toma Chagelishvili about the consequences of the conflict between Georgia and Ossetia for the dwellers of Churvaleti village. In Churvaleti barbed wire fence marking the border has gone right through the village and divided it in halves. Now families are forced to invent tricks to see their relatives over the fence and not be fined. This documentary features an absurd tragicomedy that involves the lives of people faced with the “border”.

*The film will be shown in Georgian with English subtitles. Documentaries screened during the festival will be shown with Azerbaijani and English subtitles.
