On March 5-17, regular international competitions were successfully held in our capital. About 90 athletes, representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Georgia competed in the international gymnastics tournament “AGF Trophy”.
22 athletes from Azerbaijan performed. The tournament among adults and juniors is approved by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). The pre-juniors also competed in the tournament as part of the competition.
On the last day of the competition, the winners in all three age groups were determined.
In the adult competition, the victory on the rings was celebrated by the gymnast of the Azerbaijani national team Nikita Simonov, and his teammate Ivan Tikhonov took third place.
Rasul Ahmadzade took the lead in floor exercises, while Murad Agarzaev tried on silver. Ahmadzada also won the gold in the vault, and Tikhonov was the second.
And the winners of the horse changed places: Tikhonov rose to the highest step, and Ahmadzade finished next.
Nazanin Teymurova scored three times in the women’s competition. She won the pole vault and floor exercises and won bronze on uneven bars.
Aydin Alizadeh collected the harvest of medals from the juniors. He won in floor exercises, became the second on rings, the third on parallel bars and a horse.
Khadija Abbasova won bronze in the girls’ floor exercises, and Deniz Aliyeva won silver in the vault.
Ilham Salaev scored a golden double for the pre-juniors, winning on rings and parallel bars. Mohammad Rustamzade took the lead on the crossbar, and Albina Aliyeva took the first place on the beam.
