Heydar Arif Aslanov (born 1963 in Baku, Azerbaijan, PhD in Social Philosophy) has been active as an independent film maker since 2000. Member of the Photographers Union of Azerbaijan since 2003. In 2002 directed a documentary film "Ecliptical Sketches" on social and environmental issues ("Urkunde" "Festival Der Nationen" Film Festival, Ebensee, Austria. In 2006 directed short film "Children of The Oil" on orphans in Azerbaijan ("Best Overall Film" award by the Cotswold International Film festival, UK, September 2006). The film was screened at 11th Festival Internazionale Del Cortometraggio in Siena, Italy, November 2006.
