The free practice session on the second day of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix started with many stops causing several red flags to be waived. As a result, Oliver Bearman, who replaced Magnussen in the Haas team, was unable to maneuver in time at Turn 1 and made a wrong decision, causing damage to the left side of his car. On the contrary, Mercedes driver George Russell was able to stop in time at the last moment and avoid an accident at Turn 2. By the way, George Russell became the fastest driver in this session by 0.013 seconds. He was followed by Charles Leclerc.

The next red flag came for Esteban Ocon from the Alpine team. He could not continue due to an engine failure in his car. It should be noted that a serious failure was also discovered in the Alpine car in the previous free practice session.

Max Verstappen, who finished in fifth place, made his fans worried by driving too close to the wall in the corners several times. But the most exciting moment came when he skidded the barrier at Turn 15 in Qualifying session.

In Qualifying Q1, Lando Norris took a risk by skidding the bottom of his car while making a wide turn at Turn 16. Colapinto from Williams, showed an unexpected result by moving to 5th position, but soon had to give his place to Fernando Alonso.

In the third part of Qualifying, an unusual incident occurred. Williams driver Alexander Albon had been left the cooling unit on his car when he moved away from the garage pit. Although he realized this a few seconds later, he could not return because he had already left the pit by that time, and could not continue the race in such condition. He stopped at the pit exit and managed to throw away the equipment on his own, and after moving forward with full speed, those cold ice pieces scattered all over the track.
