On June 10the, 2022, the first practice session of Formula 1 took place. Last year’s winner of the Azerbaijan GP – Sergio Perez completed in the first place while Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. The windy weather in Baku was noticeable for the pilots. During FP1, Lance Stroll was able to continue the ride despite a slight hit to the wall on the 15th turn, but Nicholas Latifi and Mick Schumacher had to stop the session due to problems with their cars.

In the second practice session, while Verstappen retained the third place, Leclerc and Perez finished by changing their position. Alex Albon completes the session with the least laps because of his accident.
