On June 10, the first free races of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Azerbaijan started at the Baku City Ring.
The competition was attended by 10 teams, each with two pilots.
The current season of the Formula 1 World Championship consists of 22 stages. Baku hosts the eighth stage of the Grand Prix. The track, 6 kilometers long, moving counterclockwise, was prepared by the famous German architect Hermann Tilke. Starting from Azadlig Square, the track, revolving around the Government House, makes a circle, 2.2 kilometers long, around Icherisheher in order to reach the Maiden Tower, then goes to Neftchilar Avenue and ends from the starting point. The width of the widest part of the track is 13, and the narrowest part around Icherisheher, including the 7th and 8th turns, is 7.6 meters.
